Von Bergen loss leaves Switzerland short

Team doctors have confirmed that defender Steve von Bergen will not play for Switzerland at UEFA EURO 2008™ after breaking a bone in his right hand.
Cracked bone
The 24-year-old cracked the fourth metacarpal in his right hand during an open training session in Lugano, and despite initial hopes that he would be fit as Jakob Kuhn's side bid for glory on home soil, an examination by a specialist confirmed that the Hertha BSC Berlin player would not be able to play at the finals. Von Bergen is now the third Swiss player to leave the training camp after goalkeeper Fabio Coltorti was sent home suffering from post-viral fatigue and striker Blaise Kufo was diagnosed with a torn groin muscle
