Injury holds Turkey's Tuncay back

Tuncay Şanlı missed Turkey's second day of training since arriving at their base in Switzerland where they are finalising preparations for UEFA EURO 2008™. The Middlesbrough FC midfielder, who has been suffering from a back muscle injury, worked on his own with the fitness coach.

Tactical match
At the Colovray Sport Center, close to the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Fatih Terim's squad first performed some stretches with American fitness coach Scott Piri and then worked with the ball without goalkeepers, Volkan Demirel, Rüştü Reçber and Tolga Zengin. Then Terim took charge of a tactical match played in one half of the pitch with special attention paid to the full-backs and midfielders, examining the team ahead of Saturday's opening game against Portugal in Geneva.

Narrow success
The 'substitute' team emerged 2-1 winners in a practice game, their goals coming from a Gökhan Zan own goal and Semih Şentürk. Hamit Altıntop's penalty provided the 'red' team with their only goal. Training was watched by around 250 Turkish supporters, and another public session will take place today at the Colovray Stadium at 18.00CET.
